Catalogue of the exhibition Flowers and Fruits which seeks to provide a partial insight into some of the changes and enduring features of the still life and bodegón genres over the centuries. The exhibition includes nearly fifty works by over thirty artists, exploring the history of the still life from its Baroque origins to the present day. This is a unique opportunity to explore the Banco de España's contemporary collections in a fascinating journey that encompasses a range of artistic media: painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, tapestries and other decorative objets d'art.

The catalogue includes a foreword by Pablo Hernández de Cos, current governor of the Banco de España, and an introduction by the exhibition curator, Yolanda Romero. There are also essays by Ángel Aterido, on still life in seventeenth century Spain; Maite Méndez, on contemporary still lifes in the Banco de España Collection; and Álvaro de los Ángeles, on new expressions of the genre from the field of photography. Each essay is accompanied by extensive information on the corresponding works in the exhibition. The catalogue concludes with biographical notes on the featured artists.
