After completing her PhD History of Art from the Complutense University of Madrid, Manuela Mena headed the Conservation of Eighteenth-Century Painting and Goya Department at the Prado between 1996 and 2019. After years training in Italy and the United States, she became a conservator at the Department of Drawings and Etchings at the Prado and General Deputy Director of Conservation and Research.
