Leticia Azcue has been the head of the Department of Sculpture and Decorative Arts Conservation at the Museo Nacional del Prado since 2004.
Educated in Italy and the United States, she holds a PhD in art history from the Complutense University of Madrid. In 1986, she won a place as a member of the State Body of Museum Curators (Cuerpo Facultativo de Conservadores de Museos). Among other positions, she has held the post of Deputy Director General of Cultural Action and Historical Heritage at the Ministry of Defence. Ms. Azcue has published over a hundred essays on sculpture, particularly from the 19th century and the first three decades of the 20th century. In 2022, she was made a full member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando.
