Banco de España working Museo del Prado to invite applications for training & research grants
The Banco de España and the Museo del Prado (Prado Museum) have had a collaboration agreement in place since 2013 on calls for applications for training and research grants. We are pleased to announce that the Prado will shortly be launching two grants
under that scheme for work in its Spanish Gothic Paintings and Drawings & Prints conservation areas. These grants are funded entirely by the Banco de España and entail a total endowment of €20,000.
Candidates will need a university degree in History of Art completed after 2012, with an overall average grade of at least 7 out of 10 on their academic records. Foreign qualifications and those issued by private Spanish universities must be recognised by Spain's Ministry of Culture and Sport.
Details of how to apply and of the selection criteria for candidates will be provided when the final call is published. It has already been announced that participants must submit a report no more than 2,000 words long: for the Conservation of Spanish Gothic Painting grant they will be asked to provide a personal assessment of the collection in this area of the Prado, including a reasoned project for improving it and updating its structure and layout. In the case of the Conservation of Drawings & Prints grant, they will have to demonstrate their knowledge of different drawing and engraving techniques and of the cataloguing systems used in leading domestic and international art collections.
The final call for applications for the 2021 Banco de España - Museo del Prado Grants for Training and Research will be published within the next few days and added to the Grants section of the Prado’s website.
